Cherie LatheyThe PinkPower Walk was set up five years ago, after a group of friends and I applied – unsuccessfully – to participate in a major breast cancer fund raising event. Far from being disheartened by this setback, it spurred us on to create our own event and thus the PinkPower Walk came to be. The walk is 26 miles long and passes through the beauty of Richmond Park and the idyllic leafy Thames Tow Path.
This year’s event has been the biggest to date, with more than 500 participants. Great fun was had by all and we were greeted by Gloria Hunniford and many well-wishers at the finishing line. A staggering £130,000 was raised collectively from this event, which will be shared between two breast cancer charities: Breakthrough (breast cancer research) and The Caron Keating Foundation (hospice care). In total, the PinkPowerWalk has raised more than £300,000 for breast cancer charities.
The Putney Clinic is one of our sponsors. If you or your company would like to sponsor next year’s event or if you would like to participate, please contact us at PinkPowerWak@camelot.uk.net or visit the PinkPower Walk website for an application form.
